Employment Tribunal Statistics show 71% drop in claims

The Employment Tribunal statistics for the period from April to June 2014 show a 71% drop in new claims as compared to the same quarter in 2013.  Although this is not as severe a drop as the 80% reduction in claims reported towards the end of 2013, there can now be no doubt that the new rules introduced last year will have a significant and long-term effect on the number of claims heard by the Employment Tribunals.

Single claims in the April to June 2014 quarter dropped by one third as against the previous quarter (January to March), which is probably attributable to the introduction of Acas Early Conciliation in April 2014.
